Art of Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest and most revered classical dance forms of India, known for its intricate footwork, expressive hand gestures (mudras), and evocative facial expressions. Rooted in South India’s temple traditions, it beautifully combines bhava (emotion), raga (melody), tala (rhythm), and natya (drama) to tell mythological stories and spiritual themes.

Rangapravesha, also known as Arangetram, marks a significant milestone in a dancer’s journey — it is the debut solo performance presented after years of dedicated training. Meaning "ascending the stage," this event symbolizes the dancer’s readiness to perform independently and is both a spiritual offering and a public celebration of artistic maturity.
